Bright eyeshadows, bold feathery lashes, blunt and daring bangs; hello Fall 2021. The pandemic has left most of us skipping our usual makeup and hair routines in lieu of an easy topknot and a bare face. Working from home may have shown us the importance of quality time with loved ones and home cooked meals, but it shoved our beauty routines to the back of the bathroom cabinet. Now with things heading back to some form of normalcy, everyone is teeming with excitement to doll up and unleash 18 months of stifled self expression. Whether you’re heading back to work, or worshipping the zoom call, these 5 beauty trends will make sure that your look screams to the world “I’m back baby!”.

1.Electric Eyeshadows

Bold, bright shadows and liners filled the Versace Fall/Winter 2021 runway show this year, with hot fuschias and electric blues leading the way. Instead of opting for the usual warm browns and smudged blacks of fall, why not reach for a neon lime green, or a royal purple to make those peepers pop?

Tip: If the sound of hot fuschia and electric blue make you want to run, try incorporating this look into your beauty wardrobe by opting for a mossy green or deep plum eyeliner. You’ll still get that pop of colour and excitement, without the intensity.

2.Soap  Brows

Fluffy, brushed up brows have been a hot trend for a while now, with beauty influencers like Katie Jane Hughes leading the way. This look won’t just have its time in the spotlight during the summer months; expect to see this full and natural looking trend continue into fall.

Tip: The best way to get this look is to use a strong hold eyebrow gel (coloured or clear), and then fill in using light, upward strokes with a fine-tipped brow pen or pencil.

3.Bold Lashes

Chunky, bold lashes are usually reserved for fashion and beauty editorials, but this season it’s time to break out your most volumizing mascara and have at it. Bold and feathery lashes that frame the eyes and draw attention are going to be all the rage this fall.

Tip: Start with one layer of mascara, let it dry, then repeat this process twice. Letting it set in between applications gives the product more to grip onto, giving it a bolder look. If you want to amp it up further, toss on a pair of your favourite falsies and call it a day.

4.Dewy Skin

Fresh, glowing skin that can breathe is going to be a hit this fall. Long gone are the days of super matte, heavy, full coverage foundation. The more natural and healthy the skin looks and feels, the better!

Tip: To get this look, don’t forget to start with a hydrating skincare routine (especially moving into the colder months when skin gets drier). Opt for a sheer base, like a tinted moisturizer, followed up by a medium to full coverage concealer for the areas that need more attention. Finish it off with a soft swoosh of highlight across the forehead, nose and cheekbones, and you’ll be a glowing goddess.

5.Blunt Bangs

Curtain bangs, move over; there’s a new girl in town. A change in season always calls for a bold haircut. This fall, blunt bangs made their appearance in the Emilio Pucci and Valentino Autumn/Winter 2021 fashion shows, and are causing a ripple effect. Celebrities are following suit by chopping their hair into the sleek, blunt style.

Tip: When choosing your next big hairstyle change, always consult with your stylist on what works best for your face shape and lifestyle. If you can’t commit to bangs, try a blunt cut for your ends to get a similar vibe.

Conclusion

Fall 2021’s line up of beauty trends are exciting and daring, fuelled by the need to go all out following the lockdowns this pandemic saw. Rest assured, you can put your best foot forward with these fall trends, and make heads turn.
